U.S. Global Investors (Nasdaq: GROW), a registered investment adviser specializing in natural resources and emerging markets, has been recognized for excellence in investor communications and education by the Mutual Fund Education Alliance.
The STAR Awards were presented this week in Chicago in conjunction with the MFEA’s annual Executive Council Forums.
Competing in the medium-sized fund company category, U.S. Global won the top award in the Best Shareholder Magazine category for its quarterly “Shareholder Report” magazine. The latest issue of the “Shareholder Report” and the archive of back issues are available online.
U.S. Global also took first place in the Online Innovations category for “Frank Talk,” a blog by Frank Holmes, CEO and chief investment officer, that focuses on the company’s key investment sectors.
It is the second consecutive year that the Shareholder Report and Frank Talk have captured the top prize in their respective categories.
Educating shareholders has long been a priority at U.S. Global Investors. Along with the Shareholder Report magazine and the Frank Talk blog, the company hosts frequent educational webcasts and publishes market commentaries in its free weekly Investor Alert newsletter.
“Instead of buying ads for our funds, we work to inform our shareholders of the opportunities, the risks and the volatility that come with investing in emerging markets and resources,” says Mr. Holmes. “We are active money managers focused on the theme of sustainable global growth. We travel around the world to get an up-close view of key markets, and we share those observations in a timely way with our fund shareholders and the wider investing community.”
In its 12th year, the STAR Awards program is the only competition where mutual fund companies compete for honors in communications. The judging in the competition is by industry peers.
