CNH Industrial, CNH Industrial Bank and the Company’s global agricultural brand Case IH, in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, came together to deliver over 600 books to schools. The following schools. EMEBC Benedita Xavier Rodrigues, EMEB Fábio Firmino Leite and EMEB Rafael Rueda from Cuiabá (MT), received the books through the Sacola Literária project, developed by VR Projetos Culturais e Sociais.
The project was created to encourage reading within educational institutions. Each collection consists of 200 books, with specific titles aimed at children, teenagers and young adults, together with inclusive works such as multisensory books and those in braille. Books to facilitate an introduction to literature for mature students were also included. A large rug for outdoor reading activities and personalized ecobags have also been made available for students, which mean they can take books home to help encourage family literacy. CNH Industrial Bank and Case IH sponsored the project with funds from the Culture Incentive Law, which includes, in addition to sponsoring and delivering books, activities for teachers and students.
In 2020, due to the pandemic, the activities were adapted to an online format. A virtual workshop with the teacher, author and storyteller Marô Barbieri, a specialist in promoting reading in an engaging manner, will be made available to all teachers and employees of educational institutions. During the workshop, Barbieri talks about the importance of literature and gives several tips on how to encourage reading in activities with students in person or online.
The selected institutions will also receive a personalized online storytelling session, to provide them with tips on how to engage the students. “We seek partnerships that democratize and facilitate access to culture and improve people’s quality of life. The Sacola Literária project is an excellent partner in this mission, as it helps stimulate children's interest in reading, culture and also promotes the human values that chime with our organization’s mission,” said Marianna Fernandes, Marketing and Communication Manager, CNH Industrial Bank.
This year, eight thousand books will be distributed by the project, to public schools in 17 cities across Brazil. CNH Industrial’s sponsorship has enabled four municipalities in the Mato Grosso Region (Rondonópolis, Lucas do Rio Verde, Várzea Grande and Cuiabá) to take part.
CNH Industrial fully embraces its social responsibility to promote development and grow together with the communities in which it operates. “Our community relations work in South America is focused on education, as we understand that this is the best way to contribute to the development of the locations where we are present,” highlights Erika Michalik, Sustainability Specialist, CNH Industrial.
