MONTVALE, N.J. - July 23, 2020 - (Newswire.com)
In 2020, teachers around the world faced an unprecedented problem: continuing learning in a digital space, often without the technological or communal infrastructure needed. As we approach the new school year, teachers are once again shifting the learning space, this time to a hybrid or remote learning model, with the additional burden of recovering lost learning from the year before.
In response, Eduscape, one of North America’s leading K-12 professional learning organizations, and edWeb, a free professional learning social network, launched the Hybrid Learning Summer Institute to help administrators and educators discover and learn about the framework and tools to facilitate remote or hybrid teaching during the coming school year and beyond.
“There are no ‘in-house’ experts for dealing with the challenges school and district leaders are facing, so now more than ever, our team is stepping up to be a trusted resource,” said Alex Urrea, CEO of Eduscape. “Our team of former classroom teachers and school leaders wants to impact as many teachers and students as possible with ideas and strategies to support them.”
Hybrid Learning is not simply a fleeting term to address this Fall’s potential shifts to how we teach; it is an opportunity to deepen student engagement and authentic assessment practices.
In this hands-on program in August, learners will be guided by instructional coaches to create a hybrid learning structure that aligns with their school’s hybrid calendar. Learners will modify their units, applying a developmental learning framework to implement in their classrooms. Throughout the experience, learners will define hybrid learning and establish a common language. It will explore the four critical pillars of effective remote teaching: accessibility, assessment, communication, and community and how to structure engaging, authentic learning experiences that not only meet the demands of the hybrid learning experience, but also work to recover lost learning.
Attendees will earn edWeb CE certificates that are accepted in 40 states for professional development hours. edWeb has created a companion professional learning community that educators can join for free that is supported by Eduscape and contains useful resources that align to summit topics.
In this two-day Institute, learners will:
- Identify strategies to support digital communities, communication, assessment and accessibility.
- Develop structures to support the hybrid learning environment.
- Create a pacing calendar for a learning experience.
- Identify digital tools to support hybrid learning.
- Discuss best practices on how to implement digital tools in a hybrid environment.
- Use digital tools to build classroom resources and assessments.
By the end of the program, learners will walk away with the confidence to not just survive hybrid learning but thrive in it.
